About the Stud
“Twenty years of selective breeding, focused on one thing - Arabian endurance performance. Not Arabian type. Not the show ring. Performance.”
- Nigel Anderson, Tubbarubba Arabians

The Programme
Twenty years. One focus.
Tubbarubba Arabians has operated on a 150-acre property in Tuerong, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, for over two decades. The programme was built around a single purpose: breeding Arabian endurance horses that can compete and win at the distances that matter.
The breeding selection process at Tubbarubba prioritises the cardiovascular traits, structural correctness, and temperament that produce genuine endurance athletes - not simply horses that look the part. Every breeding decision is weighed against performance outcomes across multiple generations.
The result is a small, curated programme where each horse that comes through has been carefully considered from conception through to sale. The number of horses bred each year is deliberately kept low. That's not a limitation - it's what makes the standard possible.
Breeding philosophy
What makes an endurance horse?
Arabians have a physiological advantage that's well-documented in endurance sport - dense bone relative to body weight, exceptional cardiovascular recovery rates, and a capacity for sustained exertion that most breeds can't match over 80-160 kilometre distances.
But not every Arabian has it. There's real variation within the breed, and selecting specifically for endurance performance requires more than reading a pedigree sheet. Twenty years of breeding at Tubbarubba has been focused on identifying and strengthening the specific bloodlines and physical traits that produce genuine competition horses.
The horses sold from Tubbarubba are not selected from a catalogue. They are evaluated individually - assessed for conformation, movement, recovery rates, and temperament - before they go anywhere near a sale listing.
