The Property

The Tubbarubba property at Tuerong on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula has been developed over twenty years as a purpose-built environment for Arabian endurance horses. The terrain, the infrastructure, and the management systems are all oriented toward producing horses that compete at the highest level.

Paddock Management

Room to move. Room to grow.

The paddock system at Tubbarubba is rotated seasonally to maintain pasture quality and manage the horses in appropriate groups. Young stock, mares, and horses in active conditioning are separated to manage their development stages individually.

Water access across the property is reliable year-round. The varied terrain across the 150 acres - from flat open pasture to undulating bushland - gives horses the environmental diversity that builds balance, proprioception, and the kind of all-terrain confidence that matters in competition.

Trail Network

Natural conditioning through established bushland.

The trail network through the Tubbarubba property is one of its defining features for endurance preparation. Horses are conditioned over diverse terrain - not just flat paddock circuits - which builds the specific fitness and footwork that endurance competition demands.

The trails traverse bushland, creek crossings, and open hillside, giving horses exposure to varied ground conditions from an early age. By the time a Tubbarubba horse goes into competition preparation, the trail work is already well established.

Arena & Groundwork

An indoor arena for the serious work.

The indoor arena at Tubbarubba is used for groundwork, early training, and controlled schooling sessions. It gives Nigel and Lara Beth the environment to work horses in any weather and without the variables of paddock conditions.

All Tubbarubba horses go through a structured groundwork programme before they are ridden. This covers float training, handling, vet and farrier acceptance, and the foundational responsiveness that makes a competition horse safe and workable.
